So for this last term we are learning about Earth & Beyond, the main topic we are learning about is the Sun. Today me and my buddy Quitah learnt heaps about the Sun. We researched a lot about the Sun, so while we did we did an K.W.L Chart. We did what we know, What we want to know and what we learnt. Here are some facts we did.

Netball Investigation - Inquiry

Hey Readers,

On the last few weeks we had got given a task relating to our topic Peaceful Play. We had to pick a game/sport and investigate it with your buddies or in groups. We got into 3 groups plus me (4) and we investigated Netball. We wanted to Investigate Netball because we wanted to know more information about it and what was it like in the olden days. Today we presented our Inquiry Investigation (Netball Investigation) and we Achieved it to the standards expected ! We were the only group that Achieved it to the standards because a lot of other groups were talking a lot about the game but we had to talk about the difference now and back then. I was proud of myself and my group when we heard that we achieved it!

Kia Ora guys! Wow it's been a good day because we didn't have school although it was quite boring because I didn't do some work but it was still good eating all day and watching movies. 1. What is the relationship between Zeus and Poseidon? The relationship between Zeus and Poseidon is that they are brothers.
2. What learning difficulties has Percy been diagnosed with? Percy Jackson is diagnosed with Dyslexia which makes it hard for him to read or to interpret words, letters or symbols.
3. Who is Zeus’s father? Zeus is father’s name is Kronos.

    4.What type of mythical creature does the substitute teacher change into   before attacking Percy? A fury which is a wild or violent anger.

4. Why can’t Percy’s mum get into the camp? Percy’s mum can’t get into Camp because she isn’t a immortal of part God.
5. How are Percy’s learning difficulties related to him being a demi-god? Percy’s dyslexia and 8 ohd are his strengths which were pointed out in the movie.
6. What is the name of Anabeth’s mom? Annabeth's mom is Athena. Athena is God of Wisdom.
7. How did Percy’s mum protect him by being married to Gabe? Percy’s mum protects Percy by his orclur overcomes the smell of Percy.
8. How does Percy look at Medusa without turning to stone? Percy uses his phone for reflection to look at Medusa so he doesn't turn into a stone.
9. How do the three heroes defeat the Hydra? The three heroes defeat the Hydra by using Medusa’s face that Percy cut off.
10. How does going into the Lotus Casino affect Percy’s Quest? They dosed with a type of flower that looks like a cupcake that makes them stay for 5 days then they realise they have been trapped.
11. Who stole Zeus’s lightning bolt? A boy from Percy’s camp named Luke. He stole it because he had enough of the god's and he wanted to rule over them.
12. Where is the entrance to Olympus? The entrance to Olympus is in the Empire state building where the hidden elevator is behind the supplies.
13. Who does Percy Jackson fight at the end? Percy Jackson fights Luke because Percy had the Lightning bolt and Luke wanted it back to rule over the gods.
14. How did Percy defeat his enemy? Percy defeated his enemy by releasing the water from the huge water tank making the water hit Luke.
15. What motivated Luke steal the lightning bolt? Luke stole the lightning bolt because he had enough of the God’s and he wanted to take over Olympus.

       

School Value in a Myth from my Culture - By Lavinia

I am learning to describe how the school values are implemented and revealed in a Myth.

Here is a DLO (Digital Learning Object) that one of my teacher shared to us and we have to complete it by ourselves so we can do an Art project on this. At school we have 4 school values the first one is Rangimarie - Rangimarie means peace, Our second school value is Tukumarie - Tukumarie means Tolerance, Our third one is Whanaungatanga - Whanaungatanga means Building relationship with others, and finally our last school value is Manaakitanga - Manaakitanga means caring for others and so for our Inquiry topic (Myths & Legends) we had to relate them towards our school values. Also I wrote the Myth from what I know about it, so enjoy and comment.

Today me and my two buddies Mehi and Maopa worked on a task called Definition Battle.
For this activity we had to compare what a Myth is and what a Legend is. Me and my two buddies

My Malama Honua Whakatau Experience

This presentation is about my Experience to Malama Honua Whakatau at Pt. England
Beach on Wednesday 24th 2015 me and my school went to Pt. Engaland beach to welcome
the Malama Honua Waka that was arriving from Hawaii. All  12 schools were there to welcome
the Malama Honua Waka it was a really good day that I experienced seeing all the school's
participating.
